How to Iron

How to Iron a  Former Saints garment

Ironing a former Saints garment, requires some care to avoid damaging the fabric and any printed or embroidered graphics. Here are the steps to iron it properly:

1. Check the Fabric: Start by checking the care label on the garment to ensure it can be ironed. Some fabrics, like polyester or synthetic blends, may not be suitable for ironing.

2. Prepare the Iron: Set your iron to a low or medium heat setting, depending on the fabric type. Avoid using high heat, as it can damage the graphics and fabric.

3. Turn the Garment Inside Out: To protect the printed or embroidered logos and designs, turn the garment inside out. Ironing on the inside will help prevent direct contact with the graphics.

4. Place a Thin Cloth: Place a thin, clean cotton or muslin cloth over the area you want to iron. This additional layer will further protect the graphics from direct heat.

5. Iron Carefully: Gently press the iron over the cloth-covered area in a back-and-forth motion. Avoid applying too much pressure, as this can damage the fabric and graphics. Focus on smoothing out wrinkles rather than aggressive ironing.

6. Avoid Steam: Do not use steam while ironing, as moisture can also damage the graphics. Use a dry ironing method.

7. Work in Sections: If you need to iron the entire garment, work in small sections to ensure even and gentle heat distribution.

8. Check the Graphics: Periodically check the graphics to ensure they are not getting damaged by the heat. If you notice any issues, stop ironing immediately.

9. Hang or Lay Flat: After ironing, hang the garment or lay it flat to cool down. This will help maintain its shape and prevent wrinkles from forming.

10. Store Carefully: Store the garment in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent any damage to the graphics.

Remember that not all former Saints garments can be safely ironed. Always check the care label and follow any specific instructions provided on the garment to ensure you don't inadvertently damage it.
